Ferry Service

Irish Ferries and Stena Line both operate services into Dublin port.

Transportation from Dublin airport to the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road There are several transportation options available at Dublin Airport. Travel time from the airport to The Clayton Hotel Burlington Road is about 30 minutes via taxi.

Aircoach

Aircoach 700 operates a service from Dublin Airport, Terminal 2 (DUB) to Burlington Road - Clayton Hotel. You can purchase tickets to and from Dublin Airport from €14.10 and pre-book online. Visit the Aircoach website for more information.

Taxis

Upon arrival to Dublin Airport, several official airport taxi services can be found directly outside the arrivals hall. The average current price from Dublin Airport to The Clayton Hotel Burlington Road is approximately €30.

FreeNow is the most widely used taxi app in Dublin and can be downloaded through your regular App store.

There are many official taxi services throughout Dublin. Please ensure you only travel in a registered taxi displaying their taxi license on the dashboard. Taxis are readily available all over the city with listed services in most tourism areas.

Traveling around Dublin & Ireland

Leap Card

Leap Card is a re-usable smartcard that enables you to pay for multiple public transportation options around Dublin. Get unlimited travel over your selected time period and go anywhere you want in the city and suburbs of Dublin, on any public transport you choose. You can even travel to and from the Airport at the start and end of your trip without any additional charge.

Purchase a Leap Visitor Card online, delivered to your home before you travel. You may also purchase Leap Cards from many local agents. Visit the Leap Card website for more information.

Once you have a Leap Visitor Card, you can top-up with additional time periods (1, 3 or 7 days) at any Leap Card Payzone outlet in Dublin (up to a maximum of five times). Your Leap Visitor Card allows you unlimited travel for the period you have selected on most transport services in Dublin:

  • All Dublin Bus scheduled services (not valid on tours)
  • All Luas (tram) services
  • DART and Commuter Rail in the Short Hop Zone (all of Dublin city and county)

Irish Rail/DART

Irish Rail operates services that travel from Heuston and Connolly stations to cities/towns throughout Ireland. DART is a rail service that operates through Dublin, traveling on the east coast and servicing the coastal towns north and south of Dublin. Visit the Irish Rail website for more information.

Luas

Luas is the Dublin light rail service that operates two tram lines, the Red line and the Green line: The Red Line (East to West) and the Green Line (North to South). The Red Line is 20 km in length and has 32 Stops. It runs from Tallaght to The Point and from Saggart to Connolly. The Green Line is 16.5 km in length and has 22 Stops. It runs from Brides Glen to St. Stephen’s Green through Sandyford. Visit the Luas website for more information.

Bicycles

Dublin is one of many European cities that offer a bike sharing scheme for its many visitors and residents.  You will see throughout the city centre the Dublin bikes parked throughout the capital.  For information on how to hire visit Dublin Bikes. These are a fun way to explore Dublin.

Available at Dublin Airport you can select to self-drive while in Ireland.

Visas & Passports

Passports

Currently UK citizens do not require a passport or visa to enter Ireland, but all carriers by air or sea require some form of identification with photograph (usually either a passport or drivers licence with photograph). Visitors are advised to check what form of ID is required with the individual airline, tour operator or travel agent before traveling. Visitors from all other countries, including European Union countries, must present their passport to enter Ireland.

Visas

Visitors from many countries also require a visa to enter Ireland. It is essential to check with your travel operator whether your originating country requires a visa. Please discuss this with your travel operator and review the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland website for full information.

Please note that a Schengen visa or UK visa is not valid for travel to Ireland If you require a visa you may request a letter of booking confirmation from the conference registration desk once payment is completed in full for registration. No letter will be issued prior to full registration being completed. It is advisable that you book and pay for accommodation for the duration of your stay at the same time as your registration as confirmation of your accommodation should also be included with your visa application.

Note that visa applications can take a minimum of 8+ weeks for Ireland – please ensure that you apply in time to attend the conference.

You can apply for a visa using the online AVATS process. Before beginning the online process you should have the following information to hand:

  1. Passport and details of any previous passports – number, date of issue/expiry
  2. Details of any previous Irish visa applications
  3. Contact details for your host in Ireland
  4. Itinerary

Following submission of your online visa application using AVATS, please note that you will also be required to submit a signed summary of your application form, original passport, passport-sized colour photograph, the relevant fee and all supporting documents, to the relevant Irish Embassy/Consulate/Visa Office per your application procedures. General Information

Banks & Currency

The Euro (€) is the currency in use in Ireland. Visa and Master Card are all widely accepted in pubs, shops and restaurants throughout the country.

Climate

June/July is considered a mild, temperate month. Showers can occur any time of the year. The average temperature is estimated to be about 15°C.

Insurance

All conference attendees are advised to arrange private travel insurance. The conference organisers and committee accept no liability for personal accidents or damage to property while in attendance at the ICAPS 2026. The Organising Committee of ICAPS 2026 reserves the right to amend and alter the conference programme and events without prior notice and accepts no liability as a result of such actions.

Shopping

General opening hours are Monday-Saturday from 09.00-18.00 with later opening hours on Thursday evenings. Most major stores/shops open on Sunday – some with reduced opening times from 10.30 to 18.00.

Smoking

Ireland has introduced a ban on smoking. Smoking is prohibited in public areas within Ireland including all bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Please use the smoking areas designated outside venues also and you should take note of any signage.

Telecommunications/Cell Phones

For international delegates, only digital phones with GSM subscriptions and a roaming agreement will work on the island of Ireland. Visitors should consult with their supplier before departure. Networks widely available are Three, Vodafone and Eir.

Tipping

Tipping at 10% – 12% is a generally accepted practice in restaurants, cafes, taxis and hotel porters. A service charge may be included in some restaurants and should be stated on the menu, but otherwise this is a discretionary item.
